Fifth cruise for us and first cruise for our son and his girlfriend. We drove down to Cocoa Beach on Friday and stayed at Comfort Inn & Suites. Nice place to stay. We ate at Fishlips down next to the port on Friday night. Parked at the hotel and rode shuttle to port Saturday morning. It was our 5th cruise but first time doing 'Faster To The Fun'. Priority boarding with the Platinum guest. We got to the port early due to catching the shuttle. No lines. The only wait we had was to get on the ship and that wasn't too long. We were on the ship by about 11:30am and our cabin was ready. We went to eat on Lido deck and then to the cabin to change into our suits to try out the waterslides.
The Dream was very nice and very clean! Easy to get around and plenty of activities.
Our cabin stewards name was Jhoe. He did a fantastic job taking care of us all week. Very nice guy.
Port of calls- Roatan- we did a Zip line, Eco walk and Beach through the Cruise One. Zip More
Line was great. Guides were great also, but the rest of excursion went down hill from there.
Cozumel- we decided to take a Taxi to a local beach for a few hours and then we went to Margaritaville.
Belize-wanted to do a Mayan Ruin tour, but the drive was 2 hours one way so we just shopped at the port for a few hours and headed back to ship.
Costa Maya- Only real bad weather we had all week. It was rainy when we pulled into port. We decided to go ahead with our plans to the Mayan Chan Beach excursion we had found online. I have to say this place with wonderful. The sun finally decided to come out. We were greeted with drinks just as soon as we arrived. Breakfast was served to us right away. Drinks continued to flow. They waited on us the whole time we were there. Our son and his girlfriend went kayaking and snorkeling. We drank and ate chips and salsa with guacamole. Lunch was great. More drinks. Such a relaxing excursion!!! Our friends got a massage. They said it was really good. Wished we could of stayed longer. Great price and great service.
Our cabin was a typical carnival cabin. We did notice the door to balcony did not slam shut as others on past cruises did. We had plenty of room. Our only complaint was the smoker next to us that kept us from enjoying our balcony at night.
The food- we always try to eat in the dining room as much as possible. The food is always so much better no matter when you eat there. The Brunch menu for days at sea was unreal. Filet Mignon and eggs for breakfast! Pork Chops were great also.
The only few times we ate on Lido deck were just okay. Our friends did eat at the Pasta Bar one day, but they said it was just okay. It seemed as if there were less workers clearing tables. We did eat pizza late at night several times. It was good. We ate lots of Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt.
Our service in the Crimson dining room was great every night. Iputo and Mr. G did a great job with our meals. They made sure we were happy with our food, if not they would get us something else.
Shows- we only went to a couple shows. Welcome Aboard and the Acrobat show. We watched the guys that did the break dancing one night in the Atrium area. They are very talented.
Shows are just not for me.
We missed the sports bar. What they consider a sports bar was a bar in the Casino. We also missed Monday night football on the big screen.
Piano Bar- I had read several posts about they guy in the Piano bar that he couldn't sing. Well, we walked past there several times and all the post were correct!!! NEVER wanting to stop in and listen.
Our theme for the week was 'Meet and Eat'. It seemed like our whole week revolved around eating. Could be why we all gained a few pounds, but it was well worth it. Our son and his girlfriend are now hooked on cruising. Before we knew it, our week was over and it was time to pack up and head home.
Disembarkation was pretty smooth. We always choose to take our bags off ourselves. We got to head off first with the Faster to the Fun. No waiting for our zone to be called.
I can't end this review without saying something about our Meet & Greet set up by Brandi on our roll call on cruise critic. We didn't have enough time to meet everyone, but it was a nice time and Carnival did a great job of taking care of us for our one hour. Brandi did a great job also!
thanks to Carnival for changing the balcony doors aboard the Dream. Past cruises the doors would slam shut waking us all hours of the night with late night guests, but not on the Dream. Moving the safe to lower cabinets seemed to lighten up the cabin. We had plenty of room. Comfortable bed. Great service.
