Picked it for itinerary and for change from cruising with Princess

Sail Date: October 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Barbados

Never again!

Where do I start ! Firstly boarded at Barbados thinking this was the start of the cruise. Was surprised at the funny check in procedures only to find out we were boarding mid cruise and it actually started from San Juan 3 days earlier. So we missed out on a lot of things because of that.

First impression of decor etc was CHINTZY and in your face. Some of the layout of the ship was much better thn Princess ones and had nearly 3000 passengers but the ship was smaller thn Princess ones that carrys similar numbers which was strange.

food: choice of different food at the buffett was good that's if you could get anywhere near it as at most times it was like a cattle market up there. Saying that though there was always somewhere to sit which was good. It was completely self serve up there even for drinks and there weren't a lot of staff on clear up duty. The pizza place and ice cream places are open 24 hours which is good but with so many kids on board More didnt like the fact tht the ice cream and cones were self serve!

Restaurants: had your time dining but could only eat in one restaurant (no choice) and even though the portion size was good the food was mediocre and the service was abysmal to say the least! One night we waited over 25 mins just to get our order taken!! Was going to eat in the steakhouse but thought the cover charge of 35 dollars each was a bit high and was worried about the standard of service etc we were going to get after the main restaurant! Had breakfast in the restaurant one morning as we thought we could escape the cattle market but didnt bother again as our waitress disappeared and we couldn't order anything else if we wanted too and most of the food was lukewarm and we had to help ourselves to coffee!

Annoyed us too that even though it states no flip flops, shorts, baseball caps sleeveless shirts in the main restaurant this wasn't policed and loads of people were let in like that!! Why say it if you don't enforce it!!!!

Ports of call: all excellent and the ship tours were varied and not too pricey in comparison but still opted to get off ship and do tours locally? Sometimes to get back on the ship there were lengthy lines and thts mainly because there wasn't enough security staff on duty which wasn't ideal in the hot weather! Half the time they didn't even have water stations available and at St Thomas I know someone who waited over 1 1/2 hours to get back on board and he returned mid day!

Facilities: bar areas quite plentiful and def not so 'staid' as on other ships. Shows good and always could get a seat. Quite nice idea tht the casino area had live music. Pools very small and them and the jacuzzis always full of people so didnt bothere. The adult area is free though and very nice but one side was right by the loud kids area so not ideal for 'serenity'

Formal: don't bother as most people when they were dressed up still looked casual! carnival should just give tht up and the fine dining as obviously the passengers who go on this ship aren't interested

There were ALOT of large groups on here with zillions of kids so i would say was for most of the passengers a cheap vacation hence why Butlins at sea is a good summing up of this ship .overall apart from the ports of call an experience I wish I had never gone through!!

Also unlike other lines Carnival aren't interested in customer surveys/feedback which says it all as well doesn't it! Less
