Well, where to start? Kindly read the review of Sue Gutoski dtd 10/05... this woman was being exceedingly kind to this vessel! I'd booked a full suite on the Caribbean Princess in May '06 and everything went off without a hitch. The Sun is the antithesis of the Caribbean! We followed the exact same procedure for the Sun, as we did for the Caribbean, regarding on board preferences, and exactly ZILCH happened. Nothing was in place when we boarded; no bathrobe, no slippers, no in-suite bar preferences. When we asked the suite steward about this, he told US to call the Pursers office and get it straightened out and made NO bones about wanting his tip up front. I'll make NO bones about the fact that this scow cost us 3K, EACH, for ten days, Yes, folks, that's not a typo. And yes, folks, Jesus, our steward, didn't get a dime.... this for services not rendered...And his attitude was thrown in for free. Having been in the US Navy, I wasn't demanding anything 'red carpet' or stuff we didn't have coming, just what the line promised... and I had to fight for that. Trust me, I'll take the US Navy, hands down, anytime! To add insult to injury, we booked an 8 o'clock dinner in Sterling Steak House, arrived at about 10 to 15 minutes early, and waited until EXACTLY 8 o'clock to be seated, despite the fact that there were only a party of two and eight already seated. Ordered a Cabernet for the tenderloin and got a chardonnay. Sat there for close to an hour while four parties of two, who arrived AFTER us were finishing their dinner. Waylaid a different waiter and asked to see the maitre'd, whereupon, 'our' waiter suddenly materialized and blamed the kitchen for the delay... Yo, dude. I didn't fall off of the turnip truck yesterday. Got the dinner STONE COLD. Raised hades, and got the charges voided.... and DID NOT eat the dinner; like, that made it all better, right? maitre'd, Carlos, seemed VERY put out that we were unhappy. HEY! We're not charging you! What's to be unhappy??!! (DUH!) Went to the Lido deck.... got insipid, cold food but didn't have to wait an hour for it. I would also point out that, on the Lido, there were little stand-up notes on the tables that essentially said "Eat up! Get OUT. NOW!" This, reinforced by staff constantly trying to grab your plate while you're still trying to gag it down. Fellow passengers? Close kin to the folks who posed for "American Gothic" and that's when they're having a good time! And I'm just telling you the good parts! This is my 7th cruise, after Zuiderdam, Carnival whatever,X2, Queen Mary 2, and Caribbean Princess (back to back) and this scow. The suite? One third of the inside was given over to water closet facilities... overall, one third of the suite was 'balcony'. For 3K with attitude?!! Aside from 'preferential boarding', ya got NUTTIN' else! Not even preferential debarkation, which I would have GLADLY paid for!!
