It was Magic

Sail Date: August 2013
Destination: Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

First time with Disney Cruises with our 5 year old granddaughter. My wife was a bit apprehensive about whether she would be homesick or ill. We flew the day before to Barcelona mainly due plane times from the UK not being good for us as they were too early in the morning. Having been to Barcelona a few times I picked a hotel just off the Ramblas so we could have a meal and take in the evening stroll. Grandaughter loved the human statues and was excited by what was going on.

Arrived at the Port the next morning at 11.30 but obviously a popular time as check in was slow and a bit hot in the shed. Got granddaughter booked in to kids club and went on board being announced and clapped in by the staff

After we had lunch on the top deck we went the room. I had booked a Navigators verandah stateroom which was ok but the whole ship was looking tired and was due in October to have a badly needed refit.

The 4 days went so well it was very relaxing for us as More granddaughter loved the kids club and the first night I had to dig her out about 10.30 to get her to bed. The security for the club is excellent and you have a mobile phone which you take with you so they can call if there is a problem. The Mickey band also means they have to be scanned in and out and cant leave without an adult fetching them. We virtually lost her for 2 days as lunch is provided so she was more than happy eating with her new friends and we were able to have a leisurely lunch. The pool area was pretty crowded but that didn't seem to bother her. The shows kept her spell bound in the evening and meeting characters around the ship was an added bonus.

As we were on a short cruise - mainly because we didn't know how she would react - we didn't do any excursions but did get off at Palma for the morning. Shuttle buses were provided which made it easy as it was very hot and were glad to get back on the ship.

The dining experience was great as the waiters stay with you through the cruise even though you move dining rooms so he they got to know what we liked.

It was a brilliant cruise which we may repeat if she is interested again and even we enjoyed it Less
