Great Cruise but with a few CONS

Sail Date: September 2013
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

This was our 5th cruise on Carnival first time on the Dream.

Ship - Pros - We Pretty much knew our way around the ship since they are all basically the same layout. There were a few exceptions. We do like the new outside deck 5 that allows for a lot more self time with out a bunch of people around since most people are on the other decks. Plus in the evening no one is on that deck and you pretty much have it all to yourself all the way around. Nice walk. Another plus is on the front of the ship on that level there are no lights. At least late at night there isn't. There are two benches to sit on and you can see lots of stars. We like the center walk through in the casino area also on deck 5. Other then the smoke sometimes is a little strong in there but being able to be in the middle of what's going on in there is pretty neat. Of course some people might not like that the smoke, walk fast or use the 4th floor.

Cons - as stated by many in lots of places on the ship More they seem to short handed. No where near the amount of staff at the food areas serving and a lot of them seem to be more about talking to each other in non English then to smile and be interested in serving the guess. The one exception is the dining room for dinner more on that soon. Breakfast in the dining seemed understaffed at times also as did the past guest party. If your a service industry I would think staffing is one area you look long and hard at before cutting staff.

Getting on the ship was outstanding easy at this port. we did Faster to the Fun. Well worth the money if you can get it, they are limited.

Dinner in the dining room - Service by all three of our guys were outstanding. Friendly fast and very accommodating. Food was pretty good some nights better then others. Salt might be key to helping it taste better on the nights it's a little off. Not bad overall.

We did two excursions we booked them ourselves. The one I can recommend very highly is in Costa Maya, Maya Chan resort http://costamayabeachresort.com/ . Very relaxing except for the ride on the beach road. But beyond that the service, food and relaxation is outstanding. Couldn't ask for a better day for the time you have there on a carnival ship. Check out their sit. They are so laid back when booking it you almost think "is this real? " Yes it is. can't say enough about them. The hardest part of the day is you have to walk out of the port gates to get to the person that meets you and gets your pre-paid taxi to the resort. It a very quaint place with your own little cabana and they bring your food and drinks until lunch time at which time you go into the main area to eat. Everything is included. Great way to spend 5 hrs and just breath. We had two people in our party went out snorkeling and had a great time and saw lots of water life. Guess I should have went with them but to relaxed. Drinks and food were all wonderful.

Overall great cruise with special friends and cruise buddies. As always Carnival ship made for a good time for the price. Western Carb. is as always hit or miss. You kind of know what your getting but some times you get good surprises and bad ones. Belize might need to get changed to another port stop not sure what that would be. Less
