We had the misfortune of choosing to go on a European river cruise during the year of the 500 Year Flood! The waters of the Danube were extremely high so, unfortunately, we were unable to actually cruise up the river. We stayed on the Viking Odin and the Viking Freya and were bussed to our shore excursions.

We were one day behind on boarding a boat so Viking Cruises arranged accommodations for all guests to stay in Budapest at a beautiful hotel. We had a great dinner with entertainment and in the morning we started the day with an exquisite breakfast.

We bus-toured around Budapest and then took a bus to the Viking Freya. The Freya is a beautiful boat with all amenities. The beds were comfortable, the entertainment was good, the food was great and so was the wine and beer. And the bathroom....you have to see it to believe it!!!

Cabin Review

Freya: A small cabin with a good layout. The bathroom was awesome and we still talk about it!Odin: The same cabin layout as the Freya. The bathroom wasn't as "cool" as the Freya.
