Best vacation ever for 25th wedding anniversary
Husband and I decided about a month out we wanted to get away for our 25th wedding anniversary. We decided on the Caribbean. Husband is not that into cruises so we checked on an island stay first. It was going to be a little more and then we worried about hurricanes. I sold him on a cruise. We selected the Liberty since we love Mayan ruins and we've never been to Belize or Roatan.
Flew down 1 nt early and stayed at the Comfort Suites airport at Fort Lauderdale. Free transport from airport. Room was great, they let us check in early. Then off to Harbour Shops for food and wine to take onboard.
MJS transportation picked us up and took us to the port the next morning. Got out of their van at 11:15am and was checked through and on board at 12noon. Very easy, little wait. We did not have FTTF but our room was ready. It was our first time with a side balcony (always had aft in the past) but we were pleased. Even liked the additional privacy at night. Rom location was More perfect near the aft elevators.
Loved the ship and the food, everything. Our favorites were MDR food, the Blue Iguana Cantina (both breakfast and lunch), Guy's Burgers, and of course room service breakfast every morning. We got the wine package, a good value.
Loved the ports, so much so I booked a cruise for the family for next spring to the same ports.
In Cozumel we just took a cab to the Money Bar and hung out and snorkeled and ate. Took cab to Hard Rock for a t shirt then back to port to shop a little.
In Belize we took the ship excursion Atum-Ha! River Wallace tour. Very pleased but wear a hat if you go. Sun is strong and boat is not covered. Saw alligators, iguanas, a manatee and a dolphin.
In Roatan we did victors Fun n Sun group tour. I would not do a group tour again and plan to do private when we come back. Victors monkey business was great but had too little time on the Beach.
Favorite stop was Caymans and did a snorkel/stingray city tour with EcoTours. Kevin was great.
All in all a great trip. We loved the Liberty. Only complaint is that the drinks seemed a little cheap on the alcohol. 3 Miami vices did not even effect me at all and I could not taste the alcohol. Same with most of the other frozen drinks. The alchemy bar was our favorite as was the Punchliner Comedy Club.
The only downside is it took 1 hour getting through customs at Debarkation. But that was not Carnivals fault. Less
