Having cruised on the Adventure of the Seas a number of times I assumed that the Independence would just be the same but larger.
Our party of 6 six were second sitting i.e 8.30. When we left the dining room it was impossible to find a seating area in any of the bars they were just too full. It would appear that an increase in space and passengers doesn't mean an increase in bar areas.
Regarding the entertainment. The guest acts that we watched were excellent, however the shows put on by the entertainments team were really poor. Notably the two parades were amateur to say the least. Having seen them on Adventure which were great you would have thought that given the number of times that the shows must have been performed in the past that performers would have a better idea of what they were supposed to be doing and have some co-ordination between them.
On the plus side sailing from Southampton was very efficient both for departure and More
As per usual Royal Caribbean drinks are expensive.
Food overall was fine, Johnny Rockets being the high point but you are paying extra.
Booked on two cruises next year on Oasis , given its increased size hopefully not a repeat problem Less
Independence of the Seas Cruises to the Eastern Mediterranean
Adequate size could have done with more wardrobe space. The shower would have been a challenge I suspect to a number of the guests on board. It didn't pay to drop the soap!Well looked after by the steward.
