While there is never a bad day at sea for me, and Fantasy offers a budget friendly option, there are some drawbacks. The ship itself is older, but offers a much welcome sailing experience by virtue of its size and lack of gee whiz styling. Plenty of places to go and escape the crowds, and all public areas are well maintained. But the constant loud music by the pool, and the plastic palms and garish decor does detract. And the clientele was difficult to be around and downright embarrassing to view. I kept wondering what the friendly, hard working service staff must really feel as they watch the gross waste of food by greedy overweight and under dressed folks piling on huge quantities and then leaving most on their plates. Enough to feed whole villages in most third world countries that are the homes to these folks.Overall, good to great food options are available, and very tasty, but really, two plates heaped and then abandoned???.

Our oceanview cabin was older indeed, but the beds and linens were super. And the stewards so hardworking and kind. Anytime dining was a pleasure and mostly very good food. A few choices I made not so great, but they were the exception. No, not 5 star quality, but pretty good considering the many choices. Service here ranged from exceptional to OK. The tasting bar was delicious, and the deli had smoked salmon, and other treats. We used room service every morning for coffee, and it was always on time and I felt like a princess.

We went to the Motor City Show, and enjoyed it. Adult Comedy was funny and not all that raunchy. Best of all was the Serenity Deck and the two other Aft decks off the Lido deck. Wonderful spaces to read, watch the beautiful marine blue sea and meet nice folks. The Spa offers free steam and sauna, but both had issues. Much needed maintenance here. Steam room actually dangerous as the shut off failed and it was burning hot. Sauna had broken door, so that heat escapes. Bummer. Spa attendants told me repairs could not be made for lack of parts. Ah well, not a big deal. Still, one wonders with a huge maintenance staff that both were not working. In any case, we had beautiful weather, lovely moments and I would do it again, and at the affordable price and easy drive to Charleston, it will be soon. This cruise as all cruises is what you make it. And it wasn't hard to have a wonderful time.

Cabin Review

This cabin had a third bunk bed which we didn't need. It was more than adequate, and while older, clean and super comfortable beds and linens and pillows. Plenty of storage, and bigger bathroom than other ships I've sailed. No toiletries except in shower dispenser, no hairdryer, no mini refrigerator. So bring what you need. The cabin was very quiet, and when you figure out the airflow control, comfortable. Good location.
