Sail Date: Sep 2013

We chose this ship because of the ports of call on its itinerary and also its size. We enjoyed being on a smaller ship as it could go to some ports that were otherwise inaccessible by the larger vessels. We have sailed many times previously both on large ships and smaller ones, but this is the first time with Holland America.

There being fewer passengers, embarkation was quite easy and our cabin was ready and waiting for us even though we boarded quite early. The ship itself is getting a bit tired, probably due for an update soon, but all her staff were wonderful and very helpful. Our cabin was roomy, especially as we had a walk in closet. All other areas aboard were well appointed and very clean. Also all the dining options, both during the day and at night, were well presented and of high quality. We particularly appreciated the free self-serve laundry as we had been travelling for several weeks prior to sailing. Really the only one down side to this cruise was the age of our fellow passengers. We are in our late fifties and travelling with another couple, but we were by far the younger of the passengers with probably the vast majority being in their late sixties to late seventies. But despite this we enjoyed both the ports of call and the time spent aboard.
