Ship Facts: Legend of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Legend of the Seas Deck Plans
nice ship relaxing cruise

The RCI Legend is a lovely ship in excellent condition. Crew and staff were great especially rrrrrrricccco the cruise director and his sidekick, a great double act.

Please don’t let my ramblings put you off sailing on the legend as you will love it and this is not my intention

The gripes I had were that the Dining room menu was way too fancy and we had to miss half of the nights. (Raspberry soup??). The windjammer was the alternative and food was piping hot. The windjammer staff were a bit over enthusiastic as twice I sat down a full cup of coffee, unopened yoghurt and banana and the table was cleared by the time I got back with a spoon. After that one of us stood on guard.

Gripe 2 was that the draft beer ran out halfway through the cruise and I had to go on to Budweiser bottles which ran out 2 days later, then bud light which ran out on the last day. Thank goodness for the fosters oil can. (Could we not have picked up some supplies at the other ports we visited before running out)? the beverage manager should have been made to walk the plank for getting it so wrong.

Gripe 3 was the entertainment which was usual cruise ship stuff but mostly in the Centrum which is like a big stairwell which didn’t really accommodate a seated audience. The more suitable Anchors aweigh lounge was mostly used for some naff game shows, the hat competition on the first night was a scream.

Gripe 4, here’s a cracker; the safe is operated by a credit card (no charge) which is really what I wanted to put in the safe. If you are going on Legend take an expired card and it won’t matter if you loose it.

Resident bands on the ship.

Dynamic Duo, brilliant keyboard player and amazing vocalist, both reggae and normal sets were excellent.

Blue Band, good for the Centrum ballroom type audience, loud drummer.

Stanley Trio. mmm not so sure about this one.

As my partner doesn't drink alcohol it was pointless taking out the drinks package as it is only available for the 2 of us. The drinks prices are as you would expect on a ship, bottle beer $6 oil can fosters $8 etc.

Ports were

Venice-

Never been there so really enjoyed it water bus 15euro return to St Marks Square so don’t book with RCI

Split Croatia-

Nice for a walk about and sitting for a cheap beer, make sure you get Kuna from an ATM they don’t like euros.

Piraeus-

Get the local tourist bus to Athens; it’s just outside the port.

Kusadasi-

What can I say? Hassle Hassle Hassle, go for a walk along the front and stay away from the streets they take euro but don’t like.

Bodrum-

Nice walk to the town and marina takes about 20 mins no need for shuttle, nice and level. Euro not a problem.

Rhodes-

Old town easy walk; ask the price before sitting down as quite expensive for drinks. Don’t ask for a large beer as a gallon arrives.

Santorini-

Beautiful town with narrow streets, cable car about 4 euros or use the donkey.

Dubrovnik-

we done the RCI trip with the cable car and old town guide, very informative and seems good value, some just went for a walk from the port some will take euro at a push.

Would I sail on the legend again? YES.
