Wonderful Cruise

Sail Date: September 2013
Destination: Alaska
Embarkation: Vancouver

This was our first time cruising with Royal Caribbean but it will not be our last. We had a very enjoyable cruise and the crew's personal detail in ensuring that our cruise was comfortable and satisfying was far beyond our expectations.

The captain was great in giving us daily announcements about our destinations and showing his comedic side at the captain's reception. Our stateroom was on deck 8 in stateroom 8060 and our attendant was great with making sure that all our comforts were taken care of in the cleaning, turning down pf the beds and shaping the towels into sculptures. We saw lots of pods of whales and the view of Hubbard Glacier from our balcony was spectacular.

Our dining room staff was great. Our table stewards were exceptional making sure all that we ordered was served quick and all our table guests were taken care of. The Windjammer was good for lunch and the sweet sensations night showed off the glacier ice sculptures. Enjoyed the Park Cafe for a late More night snack.

The amenities and services onboard were great with something to do on each deck including the large movie screen to watch movies and documentaries while soaking in the hot tub. The evening theme dinners and parties were well run and the activities in the theater, clubs and pubs by the cruise director and his staff were fun.

Where ever we went we were greeted by smiling and courteous staff. We had a wonderful time taking in the sites and beauty of our tour stops and continue to recollect fond memories of our table mates and other guests we met from all over the world in the dining room. I recommend future cruises to friends and family and have already considered booking another cruise next summer. Less

Cabin review: Radiance of the Seas Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom Deck 8 8060

Our stateroom 8060 on deck 8 was great except for the partial obstruction of the cleaning platform just outside our balcony otherwise was it great. The views of the local communities, tour stops and Hubbard Glacier were great. The beds were comfortable but probably not good for tall plus passengers. Room amenities were nice with lots of closet space. It was a bit tight getting around the entertainment center and the beds but was tolerable. The stateroom was always clean and neat each day thanks to the attendant who paid close attention to our requirements. All in all a balcony stateroom is 100% over an inside one.

Port and Shore Excursions

We did a walking tour of the cannery museum and shopping areas. We also took in the native theater show and it was great to learn about the aboriginal heritage of the area.

We walked and shopped around the downtown area as well as visited the Alaska State Museum. We were enthralled with the aboriginal artifacts and other displays. We met native artists while shopping and were great to speak to them.

We had been to Ketchikan before and walked about and shopped. Later I took the historic walking tour and found it neat to see the old buildings, salmon in the streams and to see how much it has changed since I was first there.
