There are kiosks when you get off ship and they bargain. We had a narrated tour to Mendenhall Glacier for $25 each round trip. Plus it's $3 for the Visitors Center
Took the Silver Line Bus for .50 (senior) all the way to the south, there is a Totem Pole park there for $5. We stayed on bus tho and went all the way to the North to Totem Bite State Park. It's free. The shop owners wait for you with free coffee, hot chocolate. There are bathrooms and a gift shop. Some others on our bus said they listened to the tour guides from the ship. We didn't.
Everyone must do this at least once in their lifetime. Each car has a heater, restroom, the seats were padded, Sit on left, but at the top they have passengers change so everyone gets a good view. It was 3 1/2 hrs roundtrip. Train right on dock to board. Could have save $9pp if we booked direct.
Then walk around the town after you've had lunch on the ship.
The Tour Guide was great, talked non stop the whole time, but we learned a lot.
The Gardens were beautiful lit up. Fountains etc. Will go back in the daytime.
