Ship Facts: Pacific Jewel Review (by Cruise Critic!)
Great party ship

This was our second cruise. It was a food and wine short break only 4 days.

We thought it was a great opportunity to try out P&O and see if we like it.

It was 16 of us family and friends. We had a fantastic time!!It is realy a party boat!

Embarkation was smooth and pleasant (Barangaroo) took around 20 minutes to get on-board.

Our room was ready when we got there around 1.30 pm.Rooms are spacious with good size bathroom (but old style) plenty of room to hang n put things away. Clean but could use a little bit of TLC.

Sail away party was the best.Bit crowded but was absolutely full of good viber.

There are plenty of bars, and a good size theather.I have to say entertaiment was absoultly great! Fantastic! Music everywhere and good programs.

The ship is smaller cruise ship therefore evrything is more smaller and not as spacious around the ship as it was on the other cruise ship.

Hardly any windows!! The center is only 3 decks high and dark.

The pool area n the upper deck walikg track are pretty good. Plenty of things are happening there.

Main dinning was good but only because we were with friends.

Food would have been just amezing if it was the right temperature.

They served very nice food but they were just warmish.

Service is very poor in the main restaurant. Waiters are not smilling or making any effort to make u feel special ......they just do their job put the plate infront of you. Personly I found that very hard to comprehend cos on our first cruise was just 4 weeks earlier with a different cruise line, where we were treated like Royalities !:)

The buffet is small and crowded most of the times. Food was average there, And yet again the shaking from the ship's propeller.

Cocktails were not as good n full of ice!

Not as much option to dine around or have a snack after hours. On jewel there is charge for pizza (was very odd). I had a felling that U acctully end up spending more while cruising with this cruise line.

Also the back of the ship n sometimes the AFT of tshe ship shakes like........a spring u just pressed down. Constantly shaking! From the ship's propeller . Imagen the vibration of an electric toothbrush. It was annoying very much so.

The restaurants are there (back) and the oasis which is a bar with chairs u can just relax......but u can't cos of the shaking.

The thing is we had a fantastic time with our friends n relatives. But the 3 nighter was just enough. With friends and family for a good party and a few days I would sail on her again anytime.

I would not consider to sail on her again just the two of us or for a longer trip.(Although they have great itineraries.)

But would go again with friends and family on a short break like this was anytime because somehow we did have a great time after all.

We are cruising soon and I will keep you posted. Thank you for reading
