Voyager is good.
Destination: Australia & New Zealand
Embarkation: Sydney (Australia)
We stayed overnight from perth to sydney. We were in a hotel on george st., what should have been at the most $15 cab fare cost $25.
Went down to voyager boarding day & were going to drop off cases & go for a wander around sydney, surprised to be on the ship 10a.m. excellant.
My BIG complaint is I HAD when booked to pre pay tips BUT they decided who got the money, that is disgusting because i paid the head waiter & other dining room staff etc., & never saw them once.I gave our lovely steward a tip as well as what they gave him from my money. I contacted rci upon return & was told do not prepay & once on board tell staff you will pay people yourself.
(Hope i do not have any trouble with ship staff as we going on voyager next march).
Had a look around as cabin not yet available, lunch in windjammer.
Saw quite a few injured people from the swell of the ship & it is a beaut ship not much swell.
The whole More cruise:-food i have to eat in windjammer 'cos got chron's and cannot eat chef added crap to all foods,
windjammer well it was every day half closed off & usually walking round & round trying to get a seat, there was usually a fairly long queue.
Food was average & frankly some was not very good & repetitive every day,but i only had 1 day where there was nothing at all laid out that i could eat-so saw a cook & told him & he went & got what i needed-excellant.After that always food i could eat.One thing we found quite funny was roasted potatoes for breakfast several times.
Cabins were excellant-inside as we always have.Had soaps & shampoo/cond in a holder on shower wall & those :)god awful tiny towels. How did fat people get dry :) Steward was excellant & he made the funny towel figures that were very good.
Entertainment was rather weird 'cos many days you could not go.dancers were average & princess.com had a lot better, singers o.k.Several times they had closed off cleopatras etc., to hold private passengers tete-e-tetes-which was rude.
They had an english guy & a canadian women doing the events & they were very good, cruise director we 'think' whizzed past us twice in 18 days.So dunno what he is supposed to do.
Ice skating was quite good, was not for very long & again only on a couple of nights. On a ship so big there should be at least 2 shows every night at 2 different venues-except on shore days.
Being such a big ship you may have to run to catch a show around teatime :)
Lifts are often packed so we walked mostly.
No free ice cream bar or bbq area at all which was a big shame,
princess.com have these & are excellant.
Ben & jerry's had stuff to buy, when you spend to take a cruise you should not have to buy food.Never saw many people in there.
There is a free tea/coffee place with just little pastries place at end of the shopping arcade. Not very big & only a few chairs.
Shops were average cruise type, had some things on special certain days & as usual many on last couple days.
Cleopatras is a nice seating area, they had karaoke there each day,& 3 guys were excellant & a couple of women were terrible :)
Theres several little bar areas where you can just sit 'cos trying to get a seat near a window is impossible. They have signs saying you do not reserve seats hah! plenty do.We saw a fight between 2 women 'cos one was holding 4 seats at cleopatra's for over 15mins.The correct winner got an applause. The other sulked.
The putting green/basketball court were good but little used & the rock wall also little used.
They do have the usual art paintings auctions which is very interesting to just sit & watch, the amount of stuff some people buy!
Don't even think of using the net it is absolutely useless,as a techie it drove me mad & they gave me my $35 back.
Shore tours are as usual rather or very expensive. We only took a ship bus from dock to dunedin & ok to get in after queueing a long time. Then trying to get back to ship was terrible, huge long queues in dunedin.Adelaide had free shuttle buses but queues again for a long time.
Yes if you are late back to ship you are left behind. We left 3 lots of people behind.
Disembarking at perth, well crew staff onboard were getting quite confused & it was slow.We finally get to gangway to get off & that was quick, again quick then to get luggage & through customs & go home.Huh! find luggage first,no not in the space it should be.So ask the staff nope dunno, see head person & we check every area & finally found 1 case at far end of shed & other in the middle.
Geez i do hope perth learnt from all that chaos.
cheers all have a lovely cruise. Less
