we decided to try msc (Splendida ),the ship is 4 years old but very spotless and fresh ,this year and were pleasantly surprised. The ship was a real treat with a very pleasant and friendly crew,we never use a formal dining option and again liked the choice and availability of food .All public areas had a pleasant aroma but be warned of the bars that allow smoking inside the ship in designated areas.
The cabin was an upgrade and was spacious and came a large balcony ,the beds are nice and firm ,the downfall was no tea making in the cabin but was available somewhere on the ship at any time.Meal times meant tea/coffee,iced water ,juices cold and hot milk (carefully monitored for freshness)or use waiters for drinks from the bar.
We enjoyed the trips ashore on our own and often found shuttle buses laid on quite often free which allows you the freedom -just ask.The tour staff were very helpful even when asking about free transfers .The transfers ashore were even stopped due More
to bad weather and the day was amended to cover late departures.
Transfers were faultless both ways ,boarding was quick and stress free and leaving the ship was even easier.
All in all they get my vote and return business and look forward to cruising with MSC again ,I rate them personally as second to RCI ,but this is my opinion .
Our cruise itinerary was VALENCIA,TUNISIA,ROME ,GENOA AND MARSEILLES. Less
