The Magic continues to deliver top of the line service

Sail Date: September 2013
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Galveston

This was our second cruise on the Magic out of Galveston, with our first one being in March that did the Bahamas and Key West. We got off our second Magic cruise on Sept 8, 2013 and loved it. Our ports of call were Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We had flown to 2 of the ports before so we were familiar with the islands. Very easy getting to the terminal to board the ship. My mom is platinum and we got to breeze thru boarding with them since she had booked the cruise. We were on the ship before noon and went and had lunch at the Italian Restaurant (it was pick your pasta and what you wanted in it and it was wonderful and FREE for lunch). After eating our luggage was in our rooms so we quickly unpacked and got ready to set sail. We booked our balcony room on the lido deck port side and asked for the divider be opened between our rooms. This did take several hours to get accomplished this time unlike our cruise in March in which our cabin steward did for us as soon as we requested. More Dolphins were swimming and showed us the way out of the gulf.

We had late dining in the Northern Lights and loved our head waiter Smith and his assistants. WONDERFUL FOOD and of course they all had our preferences and names down by the first night. If you wanted to try a new food they would encourage it and would bring us something different if we did not like it. Our room was always clean whenever we returned to it. Don't know how they kept up with it because we never saw them but a couple of times. Great Service, great food and wonderful ports! We were off the ship by 8 am with no difficulties. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Magic Balcony Lido 10260

lido deck 10260 is a great balcony room! Was louder this time than in March when our room was just 3 doors down from this location.

Port and Shore Excursions

City Tour

We have been to Cozumel many times but never by cruise ship. The shops around the port are very nice. My husband bought some boots at Rodgers (which he does everytime we go to Cozumel) We then hopped a taxi (4 of us) to town. The cost was 8 dollars for all of us. The square has changed a lot in the 12 yrs since we have been there. A lot of the old cafe's are gone and I felt like some of the charm was gone too. Not much to do so we took a taxi back to the port to drop off my mom and her husband and we went in search of the beach. We were headed to chankanaab but decided to go to Carlos and Charlies Beach Club instead. We had visited chankanaab before so we knew we wanted beach entry to water and not have to use ladders since they do not have walk in to water there. We spent all afternoon there at Carlos and Charlies. No fee to get in. We spent 14 dollars for both of us to get there by taxi. Great cheap way to spend fun in the sun without breaking the bank. They have all kinds of vendors right there at the beach and any kind of water activity was available for those that wanted jet skis or whatever!

Loved loved loved. Best snorkeling we have ever done. We also went to starfish island and saw tons of starfish. They provided Subway sandwiches and drinks. Shawn was the first mate and was very helpful and capt rick was great. Worth the$$$. Only complaint was it was 1 hour shorter than advertised and we did not go to stingray city. Overall a wonderful excursion. Since we were back to the cruise port by 11:00 am we search for a taxi and went to seven mile beach. The taxi was 4 dollars each and we spent another 4 to get on the beach. I must say we love seven mile beach in Negril much better! Beach was crowded and not very wide but it was beautiful.

We took a cab and went to Doctors Cove beach. Great day in the sun. Cost is 6 dollars to get in per person, 6 dollars for a chair, 6 dollars for an umbrella. Great beach bar service! Very few vendors to bother you.
