Having previously sailed on the Silhouette we knew the layout - what we didn't expect was to feel "we're back home" on embarkation. Satisfyingly familiar.
Arrived in Barcelona late evening but had time to grab a short walking tour and some great Spanish food. Our choice of hotel was good.
PM embarkation and avoided any earlier queues and rush for on-board food.
First time in Aqua class was a pleasure. Cabin Steward was discreet but highly effective, shower lovely. Only cabin complaint is the usual lack of drawer storage space but we managed, using the over-bed space. Our location was just outside the library close to the lifts, below the pool deck but no disturbance. The balcony was larger than most others and the overhang was very welcome in the summer Med heat.
Villefranche was our first time in S France and we took the train to Menton & Monaco to mix with the jet set. Next was Pisa & Florence on a private tour arranged by a fellow CC member - thank you Fran and Rome in Limo for a perfect trip.
Decided Rome would be too hot and full so stayed on board with about 1000 others!
Got wet in a spectacular thunder storm on lovely Capri and wet too in Dubrovnik, followed by an overnight in my all-time favourite city, Venice. Delightful and saw parts we had never seen before by taking the people-mover from the back of the cruise terminal @ the amazing price of only 1 Euro. Sail-in/out was magnificent.
Then Kotor via the fjord and back to Barca.
Dining mostly in Blu served by friendly and chatty waiters. Ocean View cafe seemed to have less choice than I remember with ruder people.
Nightly entertainment was not at all to my taste but those that stuck it out seemed to enjoy. Apparently the best night was a one-off performance by a 60's style music band which we missed.
A great holiday that included our wedding anniversary, when we drank the bottle of bubbly we found in the room. Did lots, rested lots, read lots, ate lots and had a drink or two too. Wish I was still there.
