Ship Facts: Celebrity Eclipse Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Celebrity Eclipse Deck Plans
Eclipse - when dreams are exceeded

This was my first cruise, my partner however has now been on 6, this however was his first time with Celebrity.

I will keep it as brief as i can, i have done a blog and will post that on here, well a link to it later when its finished.

From start to finish Celebrity are simply fantastic, the embarkation was quick and before we knew it we were on board!

We thought this would be a bit chilly being the Baltic's, but no, it was hot every day but one out of 14, how lucky were we !!

Must mention Aajo the pool butler - he is superb - singing good morning to everyone all day long, he even made the miserable ones smile !

The staff couldn't do enough for you , special mention to Pedro our room attendant and Gabi in Bistro on 5, and Alejhandro i think in Cafe al Bacio, but all staff were always friendly, always smiling, no matter how tired they must have been. The ship was spotlessly clean throughout, staff seemed to be very much on top of making sure everyone used the hand gel, this worked, to my knowledge there was no sickness !

We were Concierge class and would highly recommend it, it was well worth it for the pillow menu, the luxury bath robes and shower head , we also got our own room with refreshments for disembarkation and our own customer relations desk. Included was daily canapes and they weren't anything to write home about, we did in fact stop them !!

We spoke to one guest who said he hadn't bothered with Concierge class this year as he didn't think it was worth the extra, he then proceeded to moan about all the things he didnt have that he would have with Concierge !!

Entertainment - was quite good , with one exception Mick Miller - he was awful, we were so embarrassed as we were from Blackpool same as him, people walked out, he literally bombed on stage, hardly anyone laughed then he insulted the ones that didn't like him telling them to go to Pontins next time, something i haven't seen a comedian do for years, we felt sorry for him but he really needs new material. Ventriloquist and the juggler were brilliant, our faces hurt with laughing .Cruise director Sue was lovely, we didn't speak to her much but she was always around and lovely .

Food - Murano - quite pretentious and the staff don't leave you alone once you sit down, i hate that , at one point the staff were queueing, we wanted to shout oh for goodness sake go away

Tuscan Grill - ok not worth the extra money

Qsine - fantastic fun and lovely food - would recommend this to anyone, you order off I-pads and this is only really good with say 6 people which we had - a brilliant night had by all .

Ocean View - ok this did get crowded and quite hectic but we always got a table , i think too many food stations, it can be very confusing and busy, but the food was good and contrary to other reviews it was always hot.

Mast grill - mainly burgers and hotdogs but lovely and yet again great service

Bistro on 5 - lovely we really enjoyed the crepes in here , top service as well ! We didn't mind the $5 surcharge for this at all, eat as much as you like for that too.

Moonlight Sonata - fabulous, only one off night with the Veal, which was tough, but service excellent - our sommelier Sunimal was fantastic -if we sat in a different section he would come to find us - superb service!

Cabin - we had a balcony cabin 1104 - superb - it was on deck 10, mid ship and was that good we have booked the same room for next year on the sister ship Equinox. We were a little concerned after reading reviews before we went, but were pleasantly surprised, rooms were spacious, clean, lots of storage, your cases fit comfortably under the bed, bathroom fabulous with more storage, and we heard no noise.

Bars - without a doubt the Martini bar is the most popular and most fun, this did tend to get rather crowded at peak times, perhaps more seating required, but it was a fun bar, this is the one where the bar is made of ice, we even made a snowman one night !!

The Ensemble bar was ok but very very dark, though a good singer/guitarist seemed to be on here most nights.

Mast Bar - this was also good but mainly used in the daytime by us - Sean the barman never forgot my mudslides - yet again excellent service !

Pools etc - think Celebrity need to police this a bit more as there weren't a lot of children on board yet they took over the Jacuzzi and 2 pools, including the one they weren't allowed in, we used the jacuzzi once then gave up!

Ports - these were simply fabulous and i will detail them on my blog to be posted later - if you are thinking about doing this trip just book it !!Personal favourites - St Petersburg - wow its a must see - Brugge - loved it - Tallin - nice little town - Sailing into Stockholm - fabulous to sit on the balcony watching that so pretty - Warnemunde - lovely little fishing port, didn't do Berlin due to 6 hrs in total on a coach - no thanks, but took a train to Rostock which was quite pleasant.

Smoking areas - ok...... we accept we have to be pigeon holed these days - but on a few occasions non smokers took our chairs to sunbathe, leaving smokers to stand, thats not on, we only have 3 areas now where we can smoke and some of the smoking passengers couldn't walk properly yet had to stand - we did complain but nothing was done by the staff .

Drill - this was actually really bad - we couldn't hear properly, mainly because they didn't quieten the crowd listening, they then showed us a video we couldn't see or hear, then he told us the wrong lifeboats numbers, people did moan out loud at this point, but nothing was repeated or re played we just hoped not to need them !

On the whole however we would highly recommend Celebrity, nothing is ever totally perfect but they got pretty close in our book, that good we booked another!
