My girlfriend and myself left our families at home and embarked on this great trip. This itinerary was so exciting that we booked this about 18 months ahead of time. We were on the 10/10/06 sailing.

Embarkation took about 10 minutes which was wonderful we arrived by private car service after spending a few days in Rome.

Once on board we went to our room which I thought was small compared to other rooms that we have had. It was a balcony room #6319. I would not recommend this room to anyone! We could not use our balcony due to all the smokers surrounding us nor could we keep our door open. I really feel for many reasons smoking should be banned in staterooms. The worse thing however was that this room is totally without soundproofing. We could hear the people on either sides of us talking, tv and then how lucky were we we had one of the only 7 children next to us and it screamed constantly. I went down to the Pursers desk but they would not move us. Day or night this kid screamed and was old enough to be controlled by his parents. Also as you know this is a 12 day cruise with only 3 ship days for some reason the steward started vacuuming at 8:15 am so we had to tell him in no uncertain terms not to vacuum that early in the morning. The 2nd sea day we were awakened by the Cruise Director notifying us of a rescue of a man at sea. The cruise director is constantly blaring into the stateroom and he kept saying that it was not in the cabins to the point we went back to the Pursers to see if he had the wrong button pushed! This was my 6th Carnival Cruise and probably 11th cruise all together NEVER have we had a room like this - I was so embarrassed in front of my girlfriend I could have had my pick of any cabin but picked this one for the usual reasons mid-ship, near elevator, not near any crew rooms - For some reason the steward congregated in front of our room talking constantly it was ridiculous. Other people had problems but none seemed as serious as ours.
