I travel frequently and found this cruise perfect for a short get away. This was cruise 81 for me, so coming from a different perspective. I am not looking for anything even remotely "perfect" which some people who travel less frequently would.
We flew into Boston, morning of the cruise. This had the best public transportation option I have experienced from an airport. The Silver Line went right to the cruise port with one bus change. Simple.
The ship is a poor design due to having to go above or below areas to get forward and aft on some floors. Especially bad at disembarkation, since only the forward elevator worked for the exit.
The entertainment was skimpy with the comedy shows very good. IF interested in more, then this isn't the cruise for you.
The food was ok, ate mostly at the buffet, with Guy's Burgers the winner. Pizza was also good.
We were in a cheap inside cabin on deck 7. Was next to the laundry, but absolutely no disturbance from there, the entire week. Convenient to the forward elevators.
The Ports- Portland, we just used the bus pass and had to get to Walgreens. :) The ride was "interesting" but the fellow riders even more so. :)
Saint John- arranged a van tour, with Fundy Tours which did a good job. Weather was crappy and they "included" a stop at a gift shop- for captive audience purchases. The lunch stop was very good, however.
Halifax- walked to the Maritime Museum which was excellent. Lucky to not be walking during the rain. Brewery at the port dock was great with their $2 samples, which were just the right size.
Sydney- we just walked in a loop. Some hills and a nice harbor walk. Not much else of interest for us.
Overall, this cruise was good. :) The price was right which is important for me. The weather did interfere with the port enjoyment, but not the cruise line's fault.
