We were told that celebrity was a step up from royal carribbean but quickly found that to not be true, at least on this cruise. The ship itself was nice and the room was great but the decor of the ship was quite bland. Our main disappointment was the food in the buffet and dining room. The setup was also very illogical. You would find silverware, bowls, condiments and other things not where you think they would be so after you get your food, you end up for any miscellaneous items while your food gets cold. Honestly the food was worst than cafeteria style. We ended up using the dining room more often because that guaranteed us a table and a hot meal. It was difficult to get either in the buffet area. Also the food was not very tasteful, no seasoning. One night we went to the Tuscan steak specialty restaurant and that made our day. After several days of bland food, this was a welcome relief. The service and food was very good.
We also noticed that they seem to be understaffed in all of the bars. It seemed to take forever to every order a drink. I think management was to blame for this. It is crazy to think management would not want to sell as much as they could.
We enjoyed the cruise because of the ports and excursions we went on. I would say that if all cruise lines were set up like this ship, we probably would not go on another cruise. When we went on the Allure, the food in the buffet was also not the greatest but definitely had more choices and the pastries were much better. But since they had so many other choices, we were happy with it overall.
