We were really looking forward to this cruise. We love the Voyager Class ships, there really is so much to do on them. Port Canaveral is such an easy port for us - only 2 hours away from home. Arriving at the Port and embarkation went very smoothly. For those of you who like to carry on your own liquor/wine - I did, there were no problems. I carried on 3 bottles of wine, soda and water. Once on board we tried to drop the luggage at the cabin and they stopped us at the elevator saying that we had to wait until 1 pm to drop it off. We went to the Windjammer, had lunch and waiting the 45 minutes until 1 pm. In that time - we were able to buy the soda card for my husband, he really gets his money's worth and book Chops grille, the supper club. We did Portofino on the Adventure of the Seas last year and wanted to try the steakhouse this time around. We wanted 7 pm but they were booked by 3 groups for this time. If you have more than 6 people traveling you can make reservations in advance for the supper clubs. I had no idea about this. After this we went on the promenade for raffles and stuff. Then it was off to dinner. We had late seating this time and I probably will not choose again - on all the ports except one we were back by 5 pm. I enjoy Royal Caribbean as compared to Carnival - on Carnival they do all that singing at dinner. Thank goodness - no singing. I will say that the supperclub on Carnival is top notch much better than Royal Caribbean. There are differences - we did Carnival in February. Our cabin steward Tashiykra was fantastic. So nice. The waiter was fine and so was the assistant. We didn't go to dinner 3 of the 7 nights as we were not happy with our dining seating. Overall, this is a great ship, the staff are wonderful and I would take this ship again on the eastern itinerary.
