Most of the folks we talked to all around the ship, do not think that the reviews on Cruise Critic are fair at all to the Breakaway. This is a top flight ship that surpasses the comforts, food choices, and services provided by Disney and Celebrity which are rated close to 5 star ships. The Haven is incredible. The rooms are like a boutique hotel, the restaurant and service is second to no ship we can entertain our 14 year old twins on. The second bedroom has a couch that pulls out to a double and a single upper berth. It has a bathroom the size of a regular stateroom and a tv. My 14 year old twins loved it... they camped out in their and did not want to come out. I was originally afraid the second room would be too small, based on a Cruise Critic review that said the pull out bed on the bottom was only big enough for a small child. Heck! That review was WRONG! It is a double bed! The main bedroom was huge had TONS of storage. Even his and her closets. I would stay in this room again and again.

The water park and slides were fantastic...and so were walk the plank and the ropes course. yes there was sometimes a small wait, but get a grip New Yorkers, any water park in the NY in the middle of August has a wait on the fastest slides in the park. Its expected! Everyone waits, and no one grips... there are also few chairs left by the pool in the water park in mid summer! Every kid in the area had a smile on their face... The children's pool was the best I have ever seen on a ship, including the Disney Dream, the area was huge, and was protected from larger children taking over.

The food choices on the ship were tremendous. There were several choices for budget conscious travelers, that you could indeed make reservations for ahead of time, if you thought about it ahead of time. Many folks didn't and hence there were lines and lines of folks complaining about not getting in to restaurants when they wanted to. Or complaining about the lack of choice. This was hard to really understand... because the Breakaway has a phenomenal wealth of different restaurants that that you can find to immediately sit down to eat in if you wander the boat. And there are fantastic restaurants that serve food like a Brazilian Steakhouse, a fantastic supper Club Steakhouse, Sushi Bars, Noodle Bars, Teppanyaki, and Italian restaurants, that would end up costing a family a pretty big price tag in NY or any other city a very moderate surcharge. We are talking great shrimp, filet mignon, and exotic extras that you can pay a little extra for if you choose to make your vacation extra special.
