Ship Facts: Carnival Breeze Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Breeze Deck Plans
Carnival Breeze

This is our second cruise with carnival as last year we cruised last year on the carnival dream and had such a good first cruise we decided to do this again. So all I can do is compare two similar ships.

First time sailing from miami. We were told not to turn up before 1.30 pm so we turned up at 2pm. Expected traffic jams a long wait etc (as at port canaveral last year) but no traffic and straight into the terminal. Miami port seem to have it right.

Embarking and disembarking we're easy and quick.

The layout of the breeze is very very similar to the dream which was great which is great for the kids because as soon as we got on board the kids knew exactly where to go.

If you have sailed on the dream you will be expecting something more and the breeze does not disappoint, the decor is lighter fresher, smarter, classier. We found the dream darker especially on the long deck 5 promenade decks. This is no problem on the breeze and open. The ocean plaza splits the ship on deck 5 and there is always something going on. The breeze has much more dining options and the new family Italian is a must even for the small surcharge.

Pools and waterworks were much better on the breeze. Teen son loved the teen club. 8 yo loved camp carnival.

Ports were fantastic , grand Turk, san juan, st Maarten, st thomas, all new and lovely experiences.

Now for the criticism of the breeze and carnival. Don't get me wrong the ship is lovely but what let it down was the ding room. The service was terrible, slow, no formality, we often missed the shows as we were in there up to 2 hours. This meant we ended up going to the late show which was not the best for our 8 yo. One night we ordered wine and it turned up as we were having coffee, we said we would keep it for the next night. The following night it took them about an hour to find it but we gave in and drank it after our meal. By the way we missed the show again. This is not just me talking but the same complaints were talked about in the pool.

The big difference between the dream and the breeze was the entertainment. Dream was excellent. Breeze was poor, playlist production had fabulous led screen but the shows were terrible. I have no idea where they pulled the magician and jugglers from, they honestly looked like this was their last chance at the big time and where doing the cruise ships. The cruise director butch did ok but surely he could not be convinced at booking these acts.

All in all the ship was better than the dream but the dining rooms and entertainment were far better on the dream.

I think this will be our last trip with the carnival for the following reason, the breeze is the newest and latest ship but the experience was not as good as the dream. I believe that the next carnival ship is not due for a few years which is disappointing because if the new breeze is the best that there is then carnival will be falling way behind royal Caribbean, ncl etc which is a shame.

We have only experienced carnival in which both times were great, but after talking to somebody on the shuttle back to the airport he said "you only pay for what you get" which was disappointing as we never thought of carnival as being a budget cruise line.
