Baltic Cruise - NCL Star

Sail Date: August 2013
Destination: Other
Embarkation: Copenhagen

It was a great cruise.

Pros:

Freestyle - I enjoyed the freestyle crusing, dine anytime with my friends and do not have to dress formal.

Cabin - comfortable beds

Food - excellent in Le Bistro, extra $20 is worth the $. Had dinner there 3 times. Italian restaurant ($15) was very good too. Do not go to the Sushi restaurant; it was the worst sushi, according to my friends. The Brazilian restaurant is OK.

Entertainment - excellent; we enjoyed the show every night, esp. the last night. Very good live music esp. the two Latin guitarists.

Service - overall good.

Excursions - we joined SPB Tour in Berlin and St. Petersburg, knowledgeable guides, well organized and smaller group. Victoria, the owner of SPB, came to meet with us after the tour at the port. NCL's excursions are more expensive and the group is usually large = waiting time to round up everyone at every stop.

We visited two very nice, local restaurants - one in More Copenhagen and one in Amsterdam.

We highly recommend them. Good value for excellent dining. The one in Copenhagen is Carte Blanche, within a 5-minute walk from Osterbro Metro station. Vincent, owner/chef, is friendly and treated us with specialty coffee from his coffee machine operated remotely by his Ipad. The one in Amsterdam is Elmar. Chef Elmar personally came out to help us moving to a covered area when rain set in while we were dining outside at the courtyard at the back of the restaurant. He treated us with a 4-coure dinner, chef-choice, one of the very best.

Cons:

Bottled water is expensive in the cruise ship and in Europe. The bottled water in the cabin costs $5.25 each plus gratuity.

We wished we could spend more time in Stockholm; an extra day would be nice. Less
