Great Cruise on the Grandeur!
Sailed out of Baltimore under cloudy but warm skies on August 9 on our way to Bermuda. First night and morning were pretty rocky!
We arrived at the port around 10:45 a.m. and we were on the ship by 11:30! Very easy parking, handing off the luggage and checking in. No problems at all. We were in the Windjammer before you knew it! And yes, they did have the honeystung fried chicken...but only that one day!
The ship looked beautiful! What fire? There was no sign of it. And the sewer smell everyone complains about? Never smelled it. Well, I take that back. The last sea day our toilet had that smell around it, but just briefly and it was gone as fast as it came. It was around the time the toilet did not flush for a few minutes. Had I not been aware of the smell beforehand, I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought. I never encountered the smell anywhere on the ship. And the ship did look great! Like a brand new ship! The furniture, carpets, flat screen tvs, the More artwork in the staircases all looked great. Everything was clean and shiny. Crew were always cleaning everyday.
We had an inside cabin. We were 6 all together. 3 in each cabin, side by side. Our cabin steward was not the friendliest I ever had, but she was pleasant to us.
I must say that the entertainment on this ship was the worst we ever saw! The Welcome Aboard Show was so boring except for the comedian. The show in the Centrum about the Four Seasons was boring and the Rhythem & Rhyme show in the theatre wasn't great... people were walking out. Even the couple in the Schooner Bar at the piano were not that great. The 70's Show on the Enchantment last year was 10X better than this one. I think out of all the ships we've been on, entertainment-wise this was the worst.
Other then the entertainment, everything else was great. We had great waiters in the dining room. Angel and Marco. We looked forward to seeing them every night. The dinners were ok. Some nights were better than others. We did, however, try Chops, Giovannis & Izumi. Now, those were spectacular! For the extra money, it was definately worth it. Definately the best meals on the ship. The ice cream by the pool was a nice treat and the cafe in the Solarium had great ready-made salads, sandwiches and yes... the roast beef sandwich! The Windjammer was your typical cafeteria style food. Lunch was probably the worst selection of the day. But breakfast was good and I checked out the dinner in there one night and there were some really good choices! Alot of it seemed to be choices from the dining room.
There was alot of chair saving by the pools. Alot of towels and no one there...for a long time! Never saw any pool staff take any towels off chairs. I don't think there were alot of kids on this cruise, but the kids there were all good. Line for towels was never that long. Most days there was a band or dj playing by the pool.
Bermuda was lovely. We had some rain on & off the second day there, but it wasn't a washout. Line to get on and off ship while in Bermuda was never too long. We walked over to Sea Glass & Black Bay Beach, went to the mall, had a drink at the Frog & the Onion, went to Snorkle Park, DH and stepsons played mini-golf all 3 days. We never left the Dockyard and had plenty to keep us busy.
Our last sea day was cloudy and chilly at times... It was sad knowing we were coming to the end of our cruise. We had a great time on the Grandeur and once again another great Royal Caribbean cruise! Oh ... we booked the Explorer for next July while on board! :) Less

Cabin review: M3577 Interior Stateroom
Inside cabin on Deck 3. Plenty of storage space. Extra drawers in closet and bathroom. lots of hangers! Couldn't get the suitcases under the beds though because of some bars under the beds.Read All Interior Stateroom (M) Reviews >>
