We flew into Florida the night before to make sure we would make our cruise. We had less than a one hour drive to the cruise terminal. Even though we left 4 hours before the boat was scheduled to leave, we ran into terrible traffic from a closed highway and were stuck in the backup over 3 hours. We were certain we were going to miss the boat. We tried everything possible and were in a shuttle to the port when HAL called us. They asked if we were planning to cruise with them that day. We said - yes! We were less than 10 minutes away at that point and they said come as soon as possible. When we got to the port, they were waiting for us and quickly checked us in and got us on the boat. Whew! What an experience. We were SO happy HAL took the time to call to make sure we were coming and helped us make the boat.
After we got on the boat everything got better. We had never been on a boat that size and we thought we would find it too small. However, it was just fine. There was still plenty to do and enough space to walk around. We got the dining reservations we wanted each evening. We were very surprised about this since we had open seating and were worried about the dining arrangements. This made a big difference in our cruising experience. Getting the dining reservations we wanted was very important to us.
The entertainment was terrific! We loved every show. Food was great - as usual. I especially liked the fish dishes.
The ports were good too. We went to the arboretum in Honduras and got a private tour. In Cozumel we swam with the stingrays - which was okay. It was a little crowded for my taste. We had a great tour of the ruins in Costa Maya.
