we have waited until now so that we can present a review that is not a knee jerk reaction.
our previous experience of cruising was with P&O and they were excellent. So we thought ok lets upgrade to a 5 star luxury cruise and we booked two with celebrity one on the eclipse in may and one on the silhoutte in september of the same year.
within two days of returning from the eclipse we cancelled the sihouette cruise even though it meant losing our deposit.
We booked an Aqua class cabin, which meant we had to eat in the Blu Restaurant in the evenings. The choices were very limited, vegetables very scarce and the cooking a long way from cordon bleu. There were no cheese and biscuits on the menu, unbelievable for a 5 star menu. The service was good but the cost of drinks outrageous.
The two main restaurants were closed for breakfast and lunch which meant that the vast majority of passengers had to eat in the buffet restaurant. In our opinion, little better than a motorway cafe. Cramped, crowded and dowdy. they were constantly running out of everything, including cutlery. the food was of a poor quality, if you wanted a fried egg with your english type breakfast you had to queue at a different station which meant that no matter which way round you did it by the time you had wended your way back to your table your breakfast was cold.
the evening entertainment was rubbish and the daytime entertainment practically non existent.
you may by now realise that we would rather stick hot needles in our eyes than go on another cruise with celebrity and you would be very close to the truth.
by coincidence we decided never to watch 'THE AMAZING HOLIDAY CRUISE SHOW' again
