First time with P & O

Sail Date: August 2013
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Southampton

My wife and I were very happy with the cruise. This was the first time that we have sailed with P & O and the experience was excellent.

The staff were all very helpful. The food was excellent.

The shows that we saw we enjoyed. Andrew Zolinsky was excellent with his Classical Recitals.

We were aware of problems on the ship, seeing buckets in various parts of the vessel.

It was extremely hot on some days and I am sure that the Air Conditioning was working overtime.

We had excellent table guests are we are still in contact with them.

We felt that the cost of Photographs was rather high and the standard of some of the photographs could have been better. We did not but any for that reason.

The ports we visited were excellent and the pre-port visit talk by Jacqueline, were the best that we have ever experienced and we have been on other cruises but not with P & O before.

We would like to take issue with the system More of tipping. This is something that we would rather see in the cost of the Cruise. Then if we wanted too we could give an additional tip.

We used the on ship postal service on the 2nd of August to send Post Cards to family and friend's in the UK and as of this time they have not arrived. Friends sent us a post card from Sydney, Australia a few week's before and that arrived 4 days later. How many more are waiting for Post cards to arrive?

We are not Smokers and we felt at times that the smokers had too much of an area. We would like to have seen Smoking banned from Cabin Balconies. This did not affect us but we were aware of some passengers who were affected.

Standing on a Balcony smoking might be enjoyable for the smoker, but it is not very enjoyable to non-smokers and it is not as if it was too far to walk to a Smoking area on deck.

At times there were too few Sun loungers, sorry there enough sun loungers but there were some passengers who thought they had a right to a personal one for the whole cruise. We noted that some were being 'Towelled' for in excess of 3 hours. We had a lounger on this occasion but it was not fair to those who wanted one. It is a difficult thing to Police but can be done.

We were so impressed with Aurora that we are thinking of going with it to the USA & Canada in 2015. (We will have saved up enough by then!!!!) Less

Cabin review: Aurora Balcony Stateroom with Bath/Shower A Deck A329

A329We chose A Deck and are Cabin was Mid-Ships.The Cabin Steward was excellent. Always helpful and always smiling. The size of the cabin was adequate for our needs. Perhaps the wardrobes could have been a little larger with some shelving? The decor was looking tired and the carpet could have been replaced. The Balcony facility was excellent.
