Embarkation at Southampton was speedy and well organised. Our cabin on Deck 11 (1534) Inside was clean and well kept. However take your own shower gel, it is not supplied in your cabin, which should be a basic commodity.
When we first got on the Eclipse we thought WOW, no doubt thats a very stylish, beautiful ship, however we felt that the ship was designed to extract as much money out of its passengers wallets and there seemed very little quality service on board.
We asked if there was any irons on board we could use - no sorry we have a pressing service! Health and safety reasons. Never had this on any other ship, every other we have been on had a full launderette. Instead celebrity expect if you want anything ironing you have to pay them to do it, even shorts, tshirts, everyday things.
We found the food in the Moonlight Sonata (1st sitting) average, slow, often cold and most evenings the service was terrible. Things we asked for where forgotten, table not set properly so had to ask for napkins etc.
In general around the ship we found service quite slow. The sky bar seemed the worst and one night after waiting 30 minutes to be served despite it being almost empty we decided to give up and leave.
The prices all round onboard the ship where expensive, we would drink alcohol each evening and we started to think the drinks must have been watered down as no matter how much we drank we never felt it.
Entertainment on the ship was a let down, the acts where very bigged up, magician was absolutely rubbish, the cruise director didn't do much. The glass blowing show was very interesting. The best entertainment on the ship was the wonderful, talented and funny Perry Grant. Sadly he had been designated a small room which was too small and you had to get there early to get a seat. He was not promoted at all and its a shame the cruise director didn't value him more - no wonder he has now left the ship.
I know this review sounds like a big moan but I will say we absolutely loved the baltic!!! its one of most interesting destinations we have done, lots of culture and history. Tallinn was our favourite port. We would definately do the Baltics again.
The things that made our cruise where - the destination, the friends we made and also Perry Grant.
We would not travel with Celebrity again, whilst we appreciate this is a money making operation, we felt that celebrity had taken this too far with their high prices and lack of good service, it was obvious that customer experience was not top priority.
