Great Cruise Tips, Our Family Review

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

National Rental Car from airport easy. Country Inn 1 b room suite $100 very nice. Breakfast buffet sucked way too crowded. The Florida Seafood Restaurant, excellent. Restaurant on pier Cocoa Beach, yummy.

Recommend taxi to the ship $20 or you wait forever for free shuttle. Boarding the ship really easy if your their within the first hour. Stateroom was comfortable & cozy. Shows were all great. Game show a must. Night club was fun. Pools & hot tubs were way too crowded, challenge finding a seat. Teen club sucked. My kids didn't connect. They loved the Flo Rider, spent most of their time there. Free ice cream & pizza an everyday routine in the afternoons. The Wind Jammer has excellent salads & great options. Go early or late, frustrating finding a seat otherwise. MY Time Dining, I recommend 8pm seating. The day goes fast, go to 7pm show then straight to dinner. Even the little kids in our family did fine. Photography stations were fun. Promade entertainment was More great especially 70's Dancing In the Streets. The gym was crowded but good. Did yoga on the beach in Coco Cay, it sucked. Terrible instructor.

Coco Cay - rent a shell on Barefoot Beach. There was barely anyone there and they shuttle you to that side of the island. They circle round every 15 min. if you want to go back to the Straw Market area where 1000's of people are. Snorkel gear a must, we followed a Sting Ray, big fish and Lime Sharks. I slept, it was so quite. Go to the bbq 20 min after it starts & there's no line otherwise your waiting with a 1000 other people.

St. Thomas - we arrange a private excursion with St. Thomas Adventures. The owner & the 4 of us. Snorkeling, cliff diving ( our request ) & caving snorkeling ( our request ) on secluded north side of the island. We stayed away from the stores & St. John area. Just too crowded.

St. Maarten - we rented a car from Hertz $100. Drove to St. Julianna airport to see planes. The beach area was super crowded. The water was amazing. I watched the planes in the water come towards us. Everyone else got sand blasted! Continuing around the island ( takes about 2 hrs ) we stopped at a French cafe for expresso & amazing pastries. Can't remember the name on a hill single lane round a little after the harbor. The harbor was super crowded, didn't stop. We went on the Fitz Bay, excellent beach barely anyone there. Dawn's Beach looked beautiful couldn't figure out how to get there. The Westin Resort was in the way. Skipped nude optional Orient Bay, too crowded. Ended up in the Case, local area really small one way road all locals. Had excellent bbq lunch.

Wish we'd had more time at each port for sure. Getting off the ship was easy. We opted for the last exit. All in all great trip! Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Crowded, 1000 + people. RENT A SHELL ON BAREFOOT BEACH. They will shuttle you over. They come by every 15 min. Go to the bbq lunch 20 - 30 min. late to avoid all those people! Snorkeling a must. We saw Sting Rays, big fish, Lime sharks.

Local independent owner took us to the north end of island. Private cave snorkel and cliff diving. Avoid St. John, way too crowded. The reef is being damaged by too much tourism.
