Ship Facts: MSC Lirica Review (by Cruise Critic!) | MSC Lirica Deck Plans
Budget Cruise

The Lirica itself is a fine ship. The destinations were particularly interesting for us (Limassol-Haifa-Zakynthos-Genova-Rome-Messina-Marmaris),but the big plus was that we could embark from our home port Limassol which saves you the hustle of airports/transfers/hotels. This is a good embarkation policy of MSC which allowed passengers to embark/disembark at all ports of call.

Our cabin was adequate except for the shower area which was designed for Extra Slim People! The cabin cleanliness was excellent UNLIKE the public areas which were left dirty mainly due to lack of adequate supervision.(The lift buttons inside and out were sticky on all floors throughout the cruise!). The smoking policy is very reasonable respecting the rights of both smokers and non smokers alike. On board entertainment/shops was average. What was very disappointing was the QUALITY of food! Although the choice was good everything tasted the same mainly (I suspect) due to the use of inferior ingredients. The desserts were appalling!! However the pizzas and soups were absolutely wonderful! The service was below average and the passengers were left to fend for themselves. On board organisation of excursions lacked the required care and attention. The on land excursions were however well executed and of good value.

All in all we enjoyed ourselves although it felt that we were cruising on a budget ship....like flying with easyjet or raynair!! No frills no pampering! At the end of the day you realise that you get what you paid for.
