WOW WOW WOW fantastic Serenade of the Seas

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

This was our 4th cruise but 1st with RCI. To us they have nailed everything spot on! We booked a private cab from Barcelona to the ship which was 57 euros return for 4 people, ziptransfers. Embarkment was less than 5 mins and we headed straight to the pool, we were relaxing by about 1130am! Cabins were ready around 2pm. I had booked the cheapest cabin, no window, in the dungeon bat cave on deck 2,perfet for days out! As far as I am concerned I am never in my room to need a window so why waste money. Cabin was by far the biggest we have ever had and our stateroom attendant was fab. We had booked anytime dining which was perfect and we never had to wait for a table.

All the shows in the theatre and Centrium were of a high standard, always lots to do onboard, somedays things classed and we found ourselves running to join in different things. The CD, Ricky Mathews, was hilarious, mad and mental and full of life and energy, his entertainment team buzzed off him, brilliant! More

Sea days are as always busy round the pools, but even at 9am there were still beds empty so not to bad, the adults only pool was beautiful but they never pulled the glass roof back? The park cafe in the adult pool was delicious for salads and toasties.

All bar staff and waiters couldn't do enough for us.

We didn't do any big trips, we just wanted to relax and do our own thing. We wondered round the ports, shopped and found a bar or 2, perfect. Santorini was the highlight of the trip, absolutely stunning, we got the tender boat over and started to Q up for the dreaded cable car when a man said come on my speedboat to Oia, 15 euros, so as a few of us in the Q chatted about it , 6 of us thought why not, and haggled with the price, so for 6 of us, 70 euros it was, we boarded was more like a Viking boat than speedboat and off we went to Oia, where a coach met us and took us to the top where we wondered about the pretty streets, found a beautiful rooftop bar and had a wine or 2 for 3 euros each! admiring the stunning views, from there they took us back to Thera by coach. Thera was lovely but Oia is spectacular!! Cable car was 4 euros each way, I screamed the whole way down but what a buzz when I reached the bottom!

Salerno (naples), we took the courtesy coach to the town and hopped on a boat to Amalfi beach, 8 euros each way, defiantly worth a visit, beautiful little place with nice views and a tiny beach, 15 euros for 2 beds and a brolly. Again we found a nice little bar and again 3 euros for a wine.

We didn't want to leave the ship, we had such a nice trip and met some lovely people. Disembarkment again was easy and took 5 mins. Less
