Silver Wedding Anniversary holiday that was wonderful
Destination: Baltic Sea
After lots of research of which cruise critics reviews featured heavily,we decided to book the 14 night cruise on Celebrity Eclipse to St Petersburg.
Embarkation was smooth, pleasurable and not the cattle class treatment of lots of airlines these days. Within 10 minuets of our boarding number being called we were drinking champagne and aboard our home for the next 14 days.
The State Room
Aqua class with balcony - lovely room, bathroom, lots of hangers in the wardrobe. Fresh flowers, fruit, bottle of champagne and a lovely room attendant called Frances who couldn't do enough to look after us
Ocean View - excellent choice of food, all tastes catered for, a lovely place to eat when you wanted to chill out
Moonlight Sonata - beautiful food, attentive staff . Ate here 3 times no issues with anything
Merano - wonderful food, very special, amazing flambe' lobster done at the side of or table
We loved it so More much here we came again in week 2
Tuscan Grill - beautiful Italian styled restaurant , lovely food
Quisine - quirky, wonderful food just loved it here too
Blu - being Aqua class this was a wonderful place to eat and Bogdan and his team really made us very welcome
My only niggle here is that I feel Merano should have a dress code whether or not it is a formal night and when it is a formal night diners not attired appropriately should not be allowed in any other dining areas than Ocean View.
All we saw from shows in the theatre to music around the ship were of a very very high quality.
The Martini Bar was entertaining with the bar tenders doing great tricks. Never any issues getting served
Excellent place to try new wines with extremely knowledgeable staff who were very happy to guide you
Wow wow wow is all I can say to this fusion of flavours cocktail bar. We were lucky enough to meet Junior Merino who is the man behind this amazing concept as he was on board for 3 days and a lovely man he was too. Staffed by Barbara and Jelena they made it a pleasure to have a drink there
Great atmosphere, great staff
Every member of staff who encountered us day or night could not have been more lovely. Everyone from the cleaning team to the Officers said good morning/evening. When you went off the boat you were greeted back on by staff with cold towels and cold drinks saying welcome back.
If you asked a member of staff anything it was not too much trouble
Our stateroom gentleman Frances was just a joy, I never saw him without a smile
What we paid extra for
We got the Premium Drinks package - worth every penny if you like cocktails, spirits and wine. It just made it simple and easy
Dining package - we got the 3 package - worth every penny
Tips up front - unlike some previous reviews we absolutely did not find staff any different with the service we received because we had paid up front
Excursions - worth every penny - all the hassle taken away.
We met and spoke to a lot of people including a lady that had done over 100 cruises and they said we had chosen well for our first cruise and the celebrity bar was a high one. I agree, the cleanliness was without question, the boat was immaculate, it never felt crowded even days at sea.
We will DEFINATELY cruise with celebrity again it was an absolute pleasure
One of my philosophies in life is you reap what you sow and if the aura you give off is a pleasant one you will get that back ten fold from the people you meet along the way. However if you are out to pick holes and criticise nothing will be good enough for you no matter what. Less
