We had a 3 night stay in Barcelona prior to departing on the Liberty of the Seas for a 7 night Mediterranean cruise with stops in Toulon, Nice/Villefranche, Florence/Pisa, Rome, and Naples. Favorites in Barcelona included: Sagrada Familia (book guided tour online in advance); Picasso Museum and surrounding neighborhood; Park Guell; Montserrat (day trip); and an FC Barcelona game at Camp Nou if they are in town playing.
RC's Liberty of the Seas:
-Flowrider, Kids Clubs, iPad touch screen calendar of events on every floor--perfect for our kids ages 10-17.
-Clean, newer rooms and great dining options with variety of bars and evening shows for adults (Saturday Night Fever and Up in the Air were fantastic.)
-Day at sea on last day provided perfect opportunity to enjoy this beautiful ship
-Toulon: nothing special and first stop...stay on ship if you have been touring around Barcelona and enjoy the quiet time because from there on, More
-Nice/Villefranche: booked private tour with Ingrid at Kultours. Loved her! Saw tiny but spectacular village of Eze, old town Nice, Monaco and St Paul de Vence.
-Florence/Pisa: we took kids to Leaning Tower of Pisa through RC tour and loved it; inlaws did Cinque Terre tour and also had a great day
-Rome: did RC Imperial Rome tour to see Forum, Colosseum, Vatican and Trevi Fountain. Wish we had booked private tour with Rome In Limo instead. See same sights, but less waiting on a very hot day in August.
-Napes: did private tour with Rome in Limo and saw Pompeii ruins, Amalfi coast, Sorrento and Positano. Great day! Highly recommend. Less
