Like Carnival, we boarded the ship in New York City. We arrived at 11 am and the embarkation process was painstakingly slow after security, the line took over an hour, then on top of that the person who reviewed our tickets and made our cards was a newbie and had absolutely no idea what he was doing.
The muster drill was better than last years as we didn't have to stand out on deck, we just sat in a comfy restaurant while they talked. We had adjoining ocean view cabins on deck 5 that were tiny, then again its only cabin. I felt that Norwegian had too much favoritism towards its passengers in its haven and villa suites. We arrived right on time for our reservations yet they let a family in a haven suite go in front of my family who was right on time which i find ridiculous. Also during the show we had to stand while the four sky boxes reserved for haven suites were half empty. Sure they payed extra money but sometimes it was taken too far.
We ate in the Grand Pacific dinning room, the food took forever, one night it took them 45 minutes after we had finished our dinner for them deliver our dessert. The food was okay but carnival's was delicious.
The ports were about equal, but the tendering to Great Stirrup Cay was terrible. The pools were crowded and loud and one of the two pools was reserved for adults, meanwhile carnival had the adult pool in the back of the ship with another in the middle and the last one in the front of the ship. I will cruise with them again but I feel they can do better.
