Adriatic Explorer -Thomson Majesty- July 2013

Sail Date: August 2013
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

We booked the Adriatic Explorer cruise due to the itinerary and had a good time. We were after reading some reports on Majesty and Thomson somewhat apprehensive but in the end were pleasantly surprised.

Transfer at Corfu was smooth and speedy enough but I do wish that the company would not insist on the photographers at check in - we never even look at the photos and would definitely not buy any. On entering the ship we were greeted and shown to our cabin an outside + the cases were already there and we were happy with the cabin size (it seems issues are are with standard cabins). 4 of us found plenty of space and there was adequate draws and wardrobe space.

We did not use the MDR as we never found anything that would suit all 4 of us (2 adults + 2 teens)but the buffet was fine. Only once did we use the buffet at the stern which seemed to handle chips and burgers and the like.

Drinks were OK and we never found any too weak but then we are not big drinkers. More

Shows in the Jubilee lounge were very good -the only issue I could see is that there are pillars that if seated far enough back may block the view.

Itinerary was good and we are now contemplating another cruise -even the kids liked it. Less

Cabin review: Thomson Majesty 636

Cabin - adequate - 2 beds and 2 bunks (over beds) - beds comfortable enough -not the super soft.Bathroom small but adequate (one person at a time).Cupboard space adequate, draw space plenty, wardrobe plenty

Port and Shore Excursions

As always Venice remains a commercial experience. Did enjoy visiting the sites as its been some years since we last visited and a first for our teens.
We went down the Grand Canal on the water bus and then walked back to St Marks - its easy to find reasonably priced restaurants and shops around the Rialto area.

The return to ship procedures were a bit poor as we were dropped off at the cruise port and had to walk some way to the check in building where security scans etc were carried out - the only port where this was done.
