We were a party of five and had an adjoining cabin. We had one night pre cruise and two nights post cruise just to explore Rome. We stayed in a small hotel next to the Termini, very convenient location.
The next day we took the regional train to the port. It was an hour's ride. The train was very crowded with lots of cruisers. From the train station it was a nice 10 minutes walk to the port gate. There is the shuttle bus that take you to the ship.
Check in was a breeze. We were in our cabin after 30 minutes. The layout of the ship is the same as the Solstice which we took 2 years ago. One let down is the sky lounge. It is half the size of the Solstice because of some additional cabins they added on the port side Instead of 180 degree view we have now only 90 degree, but it is still very beautiful.
We think the food was very good. We had breakfast mainly in the Lido. It was quite busy during sea days, but we had no problem in finding a seat. We dined in the More
MDR every night and the service was top notch.
Entertainment was on the weak side. Only dancers and singers except one night the string fever which I think is quite different.
We arranged our own shore excursions in 4 ports which is much cheaper than the ship's. We DIY in Istanbul and Mykonos. They are all beautiful and easy to navigate. In Istanbul you can just follow the tram line and see all the main attraction.
One major complaint was the crew members in guest relation were indifferent. I don't think they were very helpful.
All in all it was still a nice trip even though we enjoyed the Solstice more. Less
