NORWEGIAN STAR BALTIC CRUISE JULY 18-27th, 2013

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Baltic & Northern Europe
Embarkation: Copenhagen

These comments are regarding our experience on the Norwegian Star Baltic Cruise from July 18-27th , 2013.

Negatives:

Music is blasting at you every time you embarked on the ship. This is totally offensive, unnecessary and annoying.

Music is blasting about the pool every afternoon. It is Impossible to think or sit and read a book in this atmosphere.

The one forward hot tube in the quiet area in the bow was barely tepid and the jets were not working.

Specialty restaurants Ginza and La Cucina are mediocre and not worth the surcharge. We cancelled our reservation for the Bistro based on this experience.

The only two shore excursions booked with the ship were unsatisfactory

The St Petersburg evening excursion, Night at the Russian Ballet, is held in a hotel amphitheater and is embarrassingly amateurish and certainly not worth the cost of admission which is $100. The Norwegian line should be ashamed to have their reputation More associated with such an obvious tourist rip off. We complained to the tour desk afterwards but were told we never have had complaints about this in the past and nothing was done to compensate us for this outrage.

The hop off and hop on bus in Stockholm (the green line booked through the ship), is also a rip off. When everyone was returning to the ship at 3 PM, no additional buses were added and the bus was over crowded with only standing room. Everyone was severely swashed and it was so tight that as the door opened it severely jammed my foot and I was lucky to have escaped without a permanent injury such as broken foot. This is the service given for a $40 bus ticket per person for what amounted to a short day (8-3).

Positives:

Mini suite room with balcony very comfortable and the beds were great.

Service personnel were outstanding. Cabin steward, waiters and other persons could not have been nicer. The crew was lovely.

Food in the main dining areas Versailles and Aqua was outstanding. There was great variety, presentation and portions. The waiter service was very good and prompt. Occasionally we had to wait 20 minutes for a table in the main dining rooms. Plentiful breakfast buffet.

Quality of the entertainment in the main theater was pretty good and the finale show (Elements), on the last night was really outstanding. Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Star

Room 11150, mini suite with balcony. Very comfortable room, good size and terrific beds. Good sized balcony. Quiet. Full bath with bath tub and shower. Good location. Only negative is tight access to closet storage area. Otherwise pretty perfect, highly recommended.
