Ship Facts: MSC Opera Review (by Cruise Critic!) | MSC Opera Deck Plans
Nice Cruise!!!

This was our 5th cruise but the first from Southampton. Follow sign to dock, the gate 10. On entering you have to stop at gatehouse. The guy directed us to the ship where we offloaded luggage and rest of family before travelling about a mile to car park area and then a shuttle bus back to ship.

Embarkation was quick and we were on for 11.30. Our rooms were ready and our luggage arrived within a couple of hours.

We had 2 inside cabins 8133 and 8137 which were fine for the 4 of us.

The ship is the smallest we have been on with the lido (buffet rest. and pools) on the 11th floor.

Being Last week of July 1st week of August the ship was packed with 1500 passengers 800 from the UK. On sea days the pools were very busy and if sunny the deckchairs are soon reserved with towels.

The ship was clean and pleasant, however, the sports bar is smoking. We were allocated the larger La Caravella restaurant, 6.15 sitting, and was well looked after by our waiter Budiatra. Lunch and breakfast was also served here on a non allocated table basis. The food was 6 course Mediterranean fare with some steak, chicken and pasta dishes also available every day. We enjoyed the food but it was not to everyone's uk palette! There were 3 gala nights where the majority wore black tie, suits and cocktail dresses.

The buffet cafe on top deck was extremely busy at times and space a premium.

If you use the gym it is quite small with queues for the 4 running machines.

Entertainment was ok but not really to our taste.

We took the allegrissimo drinks package and this was great value as most drinks are around 7 euros. The service charge was 6 euros per adult and 3 children per day.

We went DIY at all ports and I have included tips on each one.

Overall not as grand as Divina or Splendida but we enjoyed our cruise with MSC. We are a laid back family and our expectations are realistic.
