Ship Facts: Celebrity Summit Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Celebrity Summit Deck Plans
First time on Celebrity

We are big Holland America fans and when we found they had pulled their Bermuda cruise we moved over to try Celebrity.

We booked with AMX as we have done for years and went for the aqua class. This turned out to be the right move, well worth the price and the ability to dine in Blue made this class special.

The crew was outstanding, the ship was older and although it had been refurbed it still needed some final touches. Like Holland ships it was very clean and again the staff were all wonderful.

Pools were not very big, but if you picked the right time to visit there was no crowd issue.

Entertainment beat Holland. Like Holland and most lines they featured an attempt to give you "Broadway" talent on a budget. Big show, young singers who tried and all in all, the same old same old.

The real entertainment was around the ship, one band that knew every oldies and more and four guys singing acapella that worked just about daily. This band and the four guys were "followed" by folks when they played and the key with the small group was, they just about never repeated a song. Again, both the band AND the four guys made for great entertainment!

Dinning...Blue was a hit. Normandy was not. First night we tried it (Normandy) we paid normal rate. Had a fine meal, wonderful service and found the staff above average.

Because we hold a certain AMX card we are given one free premium dinner and we used it to return to Normandy. BIG mistake. Best we could figure they knew we were using our AMX free dinner and they really let us know they knew. Seated us near a service door which was constantly being used to rush food into the dinning room. We sat down and were promptly ignored! When FINALLY someone came around we quickly gave them our dinner requests, they quickly left with little to no conversation and as we watched folks being seated near us and then getting their food we began to wonder what was going on. The meal came at last and again staff just evaporated. Remember we had been their two nights before and had been treated to great service, wonderful history about the array of French cheeses and the opportunity to sample them, but this night nothing. Finally after we ate someone on the service staff, as an after thought asked if we wanted anything else! We said no, they left quickly and we left right behind them.

Rest of the cruise was wonderful and we have booked the same ship again this Christmas.
