Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Review by 25knotts: No 'Celebrity' style on Eclipse

No 'Celebrity' style on Eclipse
Destination: Baltic Sea
Having sailed with Celebrity twice we were most disappointed on this recent cruise in the Baltic. The food in Moonlight Sonata was barely warm. If you want your 5 a day you had to ask for it to be provided on a separate plate. The veggies were never fresh they tasted like they had been boiled in a bag, as did much of the food offered. selection and choice left much to be desired. OceanView cafe was an experience. Less choice, poor quality & over cooked. We only ate salads due to lack of choice and below par standards of cuisine. Staff looked overworked, tired and miserable. Some staff were surly. This is not 5 star quality food or service.
Our cabin looked clean until we noticed dried soap on the shower floor left from previous occupants. Checked under the bed and found what looked like bird feed! This part of the cabin had not been vacuumed in some time. The balcony table had drink stains on them, again this had not been wiped down in some time. The drawers in the More bathroom were dirty with left over (used) moisteriser bottle in one of them that had leaked in drawer .... heaven knows how long it had been there!
Ian Cresswell the cruise director needs reminding that his earnings come from the passengers which he seemed to treat with contempt and did not portray any real talent.
The piano player in one of the lounge areas was engaging - little talent elsewhere. The evening entertainment in the main foyer before dinner was far too loud and could be heard on every floor of the cruise ship...
We have decided to not cruise with Celebrity again and from many conversations we had on board, many other people have made the same decision.
It is extremely disappointing that a company with such potential has fallen so far from the tree in terms of quality, choice and service. Less

Cabin review: 1C Deluxe Veranda 1C
Cabin design needs re-thinking. Trying to enter the wardrobe with a sofabed in front of it is not only ridiculous but you need to be a contortionist to get your clothes in and out. Cupboards above the bed is a good use of space, but not if you are disabled or elderly. The balcony is a good size. Slamming of the doors is an issue. Not sure why cruise ships do not fit doors that have those special slow closing quiet door mechanisms as I can't count how many times we were woken up from inconsiderate passengers at night slamming their doors.Shower is rather small. I am 5ft 7" - small build and he shower cubicle was small for me. Not sure how tall (or larger) people get on.Bed was comfortable.Read All Deluxe Veranda 1C (1C) Reviews >>
