Great Family Vacation

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

This was our 5th cruise with carnival and our largest ship. Since live in Florida myself, spouse and 11yr daughter started our vacation with a 4hr drive to port everglades. I went on web looking for parking options since I refuse to pay $15 a day at the port and found park n go for $46 for the week, so if looking to park at the port look them up you will not be disappointed.

We arrived at the port at noon and were on the ship in 45min so was very fast. We were notified be for we got on the ship would not leave till 8pm due to maintance but it would not effect our ports of call so all was good. The overall look of the ship was nothing new since have been of other carnival ships so new what to expect. This ship was ok but it is time for some updates did notice some wear and tear but the crew keep it very clean.

We had a ocean view cabin on 2nd deck and was very roomy for the three of us plenty of storage space. Our steward Imade was excellent and always call us by name More and keep the room spotless.

We had set dinning at 6pm in the posh restaurant and did not have a bad meal. Our servers were great and always made sure we liked everything. My wife got one bad meal and they went out of there way to make sure she got something else she liked. The food on the ledo deck was ok lots of options ate our lunch and breakfast there every day.

We didn't go to any of the big shows since we like to spend our time doing other things and my daughter likes camp carnival.

One the topic of camp carnival it seams that they don't know what to do with the 8 to 11 yr olds. They don't have a space for them so they were all over the ship. Some days in camp carnival other days they would use the teen club but most times they were in a conference room playing games, watching movies or they were sent on ship wide scavenger hunts.

Ports of call

Key West. We live in FL and this was our first time there. We did not plan anything so just did a bus tour and got a picture of the southern most point.

Grand Cayman. We have been there a few times so had done the most popular things so we booked a kayaking/snorkeling tour.

Ocho Rios Jamaica. Our second time here had already done the falls so did the zip line tour.

Disembarkation was a mess they start at 6am. You had to be out of your cabin by 8am and since we had a high tag number we didn't get off the ship till almost 11am and then had to fight our way threw all the people waiting to get on the ship.

Overall had a good time and we are already thinking of our next carnival cruise. Less
