Bergen is beautiful but there were at least 5 if not more cruise ships docked. Areas such as the Fish Market and Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf very crowded. Impossible long lines to go up the funicular for the view. Our tour took us to the Edvard Grieg Museum and Fantoft Stave Church. Nice but not particularly memorable.
The ship's tour was only transportation to the Lagoon and back. We purchased tickets online to gain admittance and use the facilities. This saved us a lot of time from standing in line. Expensive ( $170 for the two of us that included towel, robes, algae scrub and drink) but it was a once in a lifetime experience. Really unique.
Although we usually arrange for private tours, we booked a six tour package through the cruise line. And in general were not disappointed. The Golden Circle is a must when in Reykjavik. Waterfall is so awesome.
