The Silhouette impressed again

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Venice

We have just returned from a super 12 night cruise on the Silhouette. We were on the inaugural cruise two years ago and have been eager to get back on board. Well, we were not disappointed. She was just as we remembered her and offered us a truly amazing cruise again. In our early forties with an 11 year old son, Celebrity and particularly the Silhouette is just perfect. Clean, great balcony cabin, excellent service throughout the ship, outstanding food and beautiful in design. We all agree, we would sail on her again and again.

We mainly ate in the MDR and buffet where we found the food to be both tasty, well presented and a good variety on the menu. As for the service, we were made to feel so welcome and it was a pleasure to chat to the waiters who went out of their way to make our son feel special. The service was in our opinion first class. We opted for Select Dining but were still treated like important passengers.

We did eat in Qsine one night which was great More fun and particularly enjoyed by our son who loved the whole experience on offer.

The cabin was as expected. Clean, comfortable, super bathroom and our son was extremely comfortable on the sofa bed. A quiet cabin and we love being on deck 7 near the Hideaway.

Entertainment was very good, casino a bit mean! On the inaugural cruise they had the table tennis tables in one of the conference rooms which was perfect with the large windows looking out to sea. We were a little sad that on this cruise they were in the nightclub which was dark. Just a minor annoyance. The pools were nice, particularly the adult pool. Were always able to find a deck chair and love how comfortable they are. You help yourself to towels and are brought ice towels while sunbathing. Perfect!

Ports of call were great. Due to the heat, to be expected in July!, we thoroughly enjoyed the fact that we could spend as little or as long as we liked touring. We did each port by ourselves except Sicily where we took the ship's coach bus to Taormina. This was a really good choice as we had the perfect amount of time in this beautiful enchanting little town to explore and enjoy a tasty lunch. Highly recommend La Botte restaurant. In Dubrovnik we took the local port bus to the Old Town and saved lots of money compared to the ship transfer. Very easy. The people mover was great in Venice and again saved lots of money compared to the Celebrity shuttle.

I think you can probably tell that we had a wonderful trip and love the Silhouette. I thought I might be tempted away when we tried the new Royal Princess but Celebrity remains our number one. It is far superior and we cannot wait to travel on the Solstice class again. Well done Celebrity, we think you are the best! Less
