Fantastic experience!

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

We wanted our boys to experience a cruise and chose this one due to the family friendly nature, price and itinery. Very slick arrangements to check in and board the ship. All staff were excellent at all points in the week, from the check in, cabin staff, restaurants / bars and big mention for the entertainment crew.

Our cabin (6551) was ideal for us (bunk beds). It had ample storage for the 4 of us. It was kept very clean by cabin crew. We were only really there to sleep and change so didn't need a high spec of room. The shower/toilet area could do with some updating. The shower (surprisingly good) provided hot water at any time of the day we required. Towels changed as required.

Daily newsletter was great to let you know about each port plus also the daily 'what's on'. We absolutley loved the evening shows (as did our boys). They were varied (musicals, pop, opera, dance...) The standard was excellent. We did the tour back stage and the staff were great showing us More around. Quiz shows (Deal or no Deal type, Strictly dancing etc..) were all good fun. Towel folding was a big hit with our boys. Cabin staff shape towels into different animals. They loved coming back each day to see what animal they had! A lovely touch.

Kids club deserves a mention. They were excellent. The programme really allows both children and parents to access the various activities on the ship ie we could go to the show at night (or dinner if you wished) and meet the boys later. Staff were fab.

Poolside was always busy and we never managed to get sunbeds any day as we had gone ashore each day and returning by lunchtime all beds were 'booked' despite this not being allowed! Would suggest staff follow through on this ruling as it is not being followed which can be a bit frustrating.

The food was excellent. We ate far too much! Absolutley no complaints on the standard, variety, quantity or quality. We tended to use the Island Restaurant for all meals. Staff there were fab and really engaged with the boys. The Beachcomer is fine, casual and very busy. The all inclusive drinks were very good and used known brands e.g Coca cola and Schweppes. A great saving not having to budget for this as all included. We realise there have been some negative reviews but feel that these were just a blip given the circumstances then. This is a fantastic option for cruises for those who are not looking for 5 star quality. Suffice to say we have already got the 2014 brochure and seriously looking at dates and the pennies to see if next year is possible! Less
