I am a multiple cruiser with RCC. They have delivered in the past on my Western Carribean cruises. This cruise to Europe was severly lacking. We left the port of Civitiavecchia (not close to Rome). From there we visited the ports of Genoa, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia before heading back to "Rome".
Every port except for Genoa was great. Excursions were a little lacking in options at every port. As stated in other reviews, all ports required you to pay extra to get to town or walk 3 or more miles. Genoa was an ugly, busy town with very little to do. unlike Spain, Italy is very liniante on their pan handling. Prepare to be accosted while there.
50 or so guests (including us) were not assigned a specific dining table. We chose the early dining time and still were moved. This led to us never being able to sit at the same table twice during the main dining. This was dissapointing as it ruined getting to know our table mates. The food in the main dining was not a the level I have previously experienced with RCC. The windjammer on the other hand had great service and wonderful food.
The cruise director Rico and his group made the expereince grand, expecially when dealing with people from multiple countries (languages). As others had stated, it was a little wierd how we picked up different groups at each spot. People embarked/disembarked at three different locations. Made it hard to really get to know people as new faces showed up everyday.
I would not recommend this cruise based on our experiences.
