Sailed on the Jewel of the Seas July 13, 2013. Embarkation process was very smooth and we were able to quickly access our cabin. We had arrived at the port around 2:00 pm. The ship is scheduled for renovation in 2014 although I felt it was still in very good condition. The Solarium was quite beautiful and the food was delicious. We used My Time dining and did not make a specific reservation time but were always seated right away. I did miss having a specific waiter for the week. All the staff were very attentive and helpful.

The negatives of the ship were the entertainment. They either had a Broadway type show or a comedian in the theater each night but not much else. We tried going to the lounge for an "adult" game show and went early to get a seat. When all the late birds showed up and no seats were available, they were permitted to stand in the aisles which in effect made it impossible for us to see so we got up and left. They decided to have the deck party on the night we were in port until 11 pm. We were exhausted from being gone all day and did not feel energetic enough to participate. The night before was a sea day and there wasn't much to do that evening. I thought it would have been better on another night like a sea day. In fact, most evenings the lido deck was mostly deserted.

Leaving the ship was not difficult. We were able to leave our suitcases in our room until around 8:30 and went up to eat breakfast. We don't leave our suitcases out the night before because of an issue we had on another ship that almost caused us to miss our flight. We went to the Coral theater and got in line to disembark. There is an elevator next to the escalator you can use to get down to the security clearance. Taxis were waiting to take us to the airport which took about 20 minutes to get to.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin H

Our hallway was very quiet. Our cabin did have some sort of rattle noise that was a little bothersome at night but not too much. The cabin had a little refrigerator to keep snacks cold. The shower was a little interesting to get used to and a little small. We had an oceanview room.
