Montreal to Boston 7/13 to 7/20/2013

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Canada & New England
Embarkation: Montreal

Background information: We are 70 and 66 year olds who have cruised on six ocean cruises and three river cruises. This was our third HAL cruise.

Travel to Port: We booked our own air flight from PHL to Montreal.

Embarkation: Embarkation was easy and extremely fast, as was disembarkation.

Stateroom: Our window cabin was 740 on A deck. It was a good size and very similar to our cabins on previous HAL cruise. Yes, as others have pointed out the bathtub was small, so that even a person 5ft 5inches had to bend his knee while in the bathtub, but that did not stop me from using it daily, to alleviate my chronic back pain!! Others have complained about the conditions of the bathtubs and stains on the rugs. In our cabin and in the hallways we saw no major or minor stains in the rugs. Our bathroom did have very minor scratches on the tub and the inner door jams of the bath room door had a few scratches. But none of these were anywhere near major issues. More

Activities: We mainly use a cruise ship as floating hotel and only went to a few shows at night, which were Broadway quality and good to excellent. We did not use the casino.

Ship information: In general, the 20 year old ship is in remarkably good shape.

Service: The service on the ship from all staff members was excellent. One concern we had stemmed from the fact that that HAL had removed trays from the Lido Restaurant. We were concerned about this before sailing, but we found that the absence of trays improved the flow of traffic in the Lido. They have created food stations, allowing you to go directly to the food you want without having to go through the whole line just to get one or two items. The only time we saw a slight line was at breakfast on departure day, but even then the delays were minimal.

Ports and Shore Excursions: All of the ports are worth a visit. We did not book our shore excursions with HAL. We did our research on the internet and enjoyed our tours. We spent extra time in Montreal before embarking and had a great time walking around and using their great subway system. Less
